CISCRP and INC Research are teaming up to host the “Inspiring Hope” Ideathon. The Ideathon is a ground-breaking competition that creates an opportunity to raise greater awareness for clinical trials. Open to industry leaders, health advocates, and anyone with an interest in helping medical progress, the event aims to discover radical and effective new methods to increase public consciousness of clinical trials.

Competition Details

The “Inspiring Hope” Ideathon is the first competitive program specifically designed to provoke innovative and creative ideas to help raise awareness of medical research. Anyone—from pharmaceutical companies to physicians and healthcare professionals, to patients themselves—can participate. For those interested in registering to be part of the competition, the idea should address how to:

  1. Raise awareness about clinical research affects and impacts society
  2. Build more momentum to increase personal, long-term and ongoing participation in clinical studies
  3. Stimulate more active engagement within the clinical research community, particularly those who seek alternative health care options
  4. Create higher levels of recognition and appreciation for clinical trial volunteers

To find out more information on what you need to enter, please read the Guidelines on What to Include in Your Idea Application.

Registration is open from June 1 to August 8, 2016. Finalists will be notified during the week of August 15, 2016.

If you have an idea that you’d like to share, please submit it at the Ideathon registration page.

If you feel like your abilities would be better suited to helping guide others, you can also register as a Mentor. The Ideathon needs wise and experienced Mentors to support finalists and provide feedback for their ideas. Here’s a few skills and responsibilities Mentors will have:

  • Help a team brainstorm ideas and provide insight, assisting with decision-making to progress toward identified solutions
  • Provide guidance in areas such as social, operational, or technological subjects
  • Assist with the team’s thought process; help them focus on key areas and offer a different point of view on problems
  • Collaborate with the team to develop a Final Pitch prior to judging
  • Encourage, motivate, and (when necessary) provide leadership

Anyone can apply to be a Mentor. This position is not limited to just professionals or people in the medical and health community. Please note that Mentors will not be able to submit ideas.

For more information on what being a Mentor involves, please read the Guidelines for Mentors.

If you are interested in becoming a Mentor, please register on the Ideathon website here:

The Judges

The contest will be judged by a panel of five experts, including one representative from CISCRP and one from INC Research. The other three judges will be representatives of the healthcare and related stakeholder communities. Submitted ideas will be judged based on the following:

  • Innovation—How ‘innovative’ is the idea? Is this idea creative and progressive?
  • Feasibility of Implementation—How feasible is the idea? How can it be executed within 6 months/one year on a defined budget?
  • Sustainability—How sustainable is the idea? Is this idea cost-effective? Where does this have market potential and scalability?
  • Impact—How does this idea improve health outcomes for diverse or vulnerable populations in a range of disease and medical conditions?

The winner will be announced at the close of the September 27-28 Ideathon event in Boston.
